God’s Food & Medical System Part Two

The Original Diet

Welcome to Part Two of a four part blog series titled: God’s Food & Medical System. In Part One, I wrote about the origin of God’s Food & Medical System, what it is and how it works. If you have not read Part One, I encourage you to start there first. Part One is the foundation of this blog series. More importantly, when we truly understand what God’s Food & Medical System is and how it works, we develop a deeper connection with our Creator and appreciation for the foods, medicines & natural resources He has so thoughtfully provided for us.

Most of us were unknowingly born into Babylon’s Food & Drug System. We have been raised and conditioned to trust and depend on Babylon’s laboratory manmade “foods” and “medications”. As a result, the knowledge of our Creator’s Food & Medical System is undervalued and misunderstood. Sadly, even professing Christians today are mistrusting and ignorant of the healing power of God’s divine provisions of real food and medicine.

However, in spite of our ignorance and misplaced trust, our loving Father in Heaven continues to draw our attention back to His Creation. Thankfully, He has preserved the knowledge and understanding of His Food & Medical System for us to learn and return to in these very last days.

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

Revelation 18:4 KJV

God is calling His people out of Babylon and back to Him and His Food & Medical System. He warns that those who follow Christ must come out of Babylon’s world system to avoid taking part in her sins and receiving her plagues. According to Bible prophecy, Babylon will fall. True followers of Christ must flee Babylon and instead, place our complete trust in the Spirit of Truth to teach us the forgotten ways of our Creator. {For a more in depth understanding of spiritual Babylon, please check out my husband Shaun’s blog post titled: “Come Out of Her My People”.}

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13 KJV

The Journey

I first want to start off by giving glory to our Creator for His incredible Food & Medical System that supernaturally provides life giving foods and medicines for the sustenance and wellness of all life. Myself and my family are living testimonies to the vitality and healing power of God’s purposeful and living provisions of seed bearing herbs and trees.

In my early thirties, my youngest son and I experienced some challenging health issues. Through those trials, the LORD began to change my understanding and relationship with food and medicine. He pulled back the curtain and showed me the dangers and corruption of this world’s food & drug system. Over the years, He led my family and I out of Babylon’s Food & Drug System and transitioned us into the foods and medicines of His Creation. Since changing over, each member of our family including our animals, has experienced first hand, the health and healing power of our Creator’s provisions of seed bearing herbs and trees.

Today, I place a higher priority on eating to nourish our bodies rather than eating to satisfy the lusts of our flesh. I try to practice eating with self-control, gratitude and intention. I deeply appreciate the living foods and medicines our Creator has given us. I don’t always make the right food choices but I try to think before I put anything into my mouth and consider what I prepare for my family. It is very important for me to know where our food is coming from. {I elaborate more on “eating to serve the flesh” in Part Three of this series.}

I hope you will take a walk with me as I share our life experiences and the knowledge the LORD has taught us over the years. I am in no way claiming to be an expert on any of these matters. I am a student who is still learning and growing in knowledge. I am nothing more than a vessel that God is using to help lead His people back to the hidden treasures of His Creation. My sincere hope and prayer, is that the information written here, would inspire you to come out of Babylon’s Food & Drug System and get back to our Creator’s intended ways of simple eating, drinking and healing. {I elaborate further on Babylon’s Food & Drug System in Part Four of this series.}

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.”

Genesis 1:29-30 KJV

What is the Original Diet?

As we can see from Genesis 1:29 KJV, the very first diet prescribed by our Creator was a diet of seed bearing herbs & trees. Today this is known as a “Plant Based Diet”.{Not the modernized version but rather whole plant foods, unprocessed and in their original state}. God’s initial plan at Creation was a world without sin, death and the killing and eating of animals.

On the third day of Creation, God created many different kinds of seed bearing herbs & trees. Each kind has its own distinct look and taste as well as its own nutritional and medicinal purpose. There are thousands of different kinds of seed bearing plants and trees.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:12 KJV

The Original Diet is way more than just a diet, it is God’s Creation of living foods, medicines and resources that originate from the earth. Our Creator’s intention was a perfect dietary plan, that connects all living things from the earth, back to one another and eventually back to the earth. We can see this pattern clearly laid out in Genesis Chapter One.

God brings forth Food & Medicine from the Earth

At Creation, God commanded the earth to bring forth seed bearing herbs & trees which provide all life with an abundance of food, medicine and natural resources. I expand on this process in God’s Food & Medical System Part One.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.” Genesis 1:11 KJV

God brings forth every Living Creature from the Earth

After God created His Food & Medical System of seed bearing herbs and trees, He then commanded the earth to bring forth every living creature.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. Genesis 1:24 KJV

God created man in His image, from the dust of the earth.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27 KJV

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:4-7 KJV

Everything in God’s creation has purpose and was thoughtfully designed to work together. God made the Herbs and Trees to grow out of the earth, to provide food and medicine for humans and living creatures who also originate from the earth. When herbs, trees, humans, and creatures die, all go back into the earth from which we came.

I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.” For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.

Ecclesiates 3:18-20 NKJV

God speaks through His Creation

God speaks through His Creation. The more we learn to listen and hear the voice of God through His creation, the more we understand and appreciate His ways and His sovereignty.

{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.}

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.” Psalm 19:1-3 KJV

Observing God’s Creation and learning how to utilize and depend on His provisions of living foods, medicines and natural resources from the earth, improves our quality of life, increases our dependency on Him and empowers us to be less reliant on this world’s system. We can honor our Creator by putting His provisions to use and making an effort to be good stewards over His Creation.

The Original Diet Revised

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Genesis 3:1 KJV

The Fall of Man

After God created all things, He then planted a separate and special garden called Eden. Eden was a perfect paradise, designed and prepared by God for the first humans. In Eden, God planted beautiful trees that were “pleasant to the sight” and also “good for food”. In the midst of the garden, God also planted “The Tree of Life” and “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”.

“And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden, and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Genesis 2:8-9 KJV

God placed Adam in the garden of Eden and gave him the freedom to eat of every tree, with the exception of The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17 KJV

Sometime after, God decided that Adam should not be alone in the garden and so He created a help mate for him. "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:18 KJV

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:21-24 KJV

Eventually, the serpent, {a representation of Satan}, approached the woman and began to deceptively question her about God’s command to not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” Genesis 3:1 KJV

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5 KJV

Ultimately, Adam and Eve would disobey God and eat the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Genesis 3:6-7 KJV

Adam and Eve’s disobedience against God, brought on life changing consequences for them and for us:

So the Lord God said to the serpent,

“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

To the woman He said:

“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.

Then to Adam He said,

“Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:

Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.
In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.”

As a result of Adam and Eve’s rebellion, humanity became separated from God. Sin and death entered the world, and the earth became cursed. Thankfully, our loving Father in Heaven had a plan for restoration. He would eventually send His only son Jesus to earth for the remission of the sins of humanity.

“And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.”

Mark 1:12-13 KJV

Just as Adam and Eve were tempted to eat the forbidden fruit, Jesus was tempted by Satan to turn stones into bread when he hungered after fasting for forty days. Although he was starving, Jesus overcame Satan and won the victory over temptation.

“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:1-4 KJV

Where Adam and Eve lost the battle with appetite, Jesus conquered his appetite through prayer, fasting, and self-control. If Jesus had obeyed the voice of the Satan, he wouldn’t have fulfilled his mission and purpose of reconciling humanity back to God. Adam brought death to humanity but Jesus brings life.

“For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 NKJV

Adam and Eve were greatly deceived by the serpent. Humanity today is also greatly deceived in the same way. Just as the serpent lied to Eve, he is lying to us and has many believers convinced that there are no consequences to dishonoring our temples by carelessly eating whatever looks and feels good. Thankfully, through faith in Jesus, we can overcome appetite by emulating His model of fasting, prayer and self-control.

The Animals

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3 NKJV

The Forbiddance of Blood

After the fall of humanity {before Jesus came to earth}, the world became so corrupted that God sent a worldwide flood destroying all life off the face of the earth, with the exception of 8 souls, Noah and his family. {I elaborate more on this in Part One & Part Three}.

After the flood waters receded in Genesis Chapter 9:1-4, God revised the Original Diet. In addition to seed bearing herbs and trees, He allowed humans to eat the flesh of land and sea animals. At this point, the only dietary restriction given was the forbiddance of eating any flesh with “it’s life, or it’s blood.”

“And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” Genesis 9:2-4 KJV

When we fast forward to the book of Leviticus, we see in Chapter 3, God reiterates the dietary restriction against eating the blood of an animal, and then adds the restriction of eating the fat of any animal.

“This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood. Leviticus 3:17 KJV

We also see this command repeated in Leviticus Chapter 17 and the book of Deuteronomy.

“For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.” Leviticus 17:14 KJV

“Just as the gazelle and the deer are eaten, so you may eat them; the unclean and the clean alike may eat them. Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life; you may not eat the life with the meat. You shall not eat it; you shall pour it on the earth like water.” Deuteronomy 12:22-24 NKJV

In addition, the LORD establishes in Deuteronomy Chapter 14 that it is also forbidden to eat an animal carcass that has died naturally or was killed by another animal. Also, God forbid cooking a young goat in its mother’s milk.

You are not to eat any carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.” Deuteronomy 14:21.

Clean & Unclean

In Leviticus, Chapter 11, God adds more dietary restrictions. In this Chapter, God makes a distinction between which land and sea creatures are clean to eat, and those that are not. Here is a brief summary of Leviticus Chapter 11:

Animals of the Earth

“Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth: Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat.” Leviticus 11:1-3 NKJV

Sea Creatures

These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. Leviticus 11:12 KJV

Birds

“And these you shall regard as an abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard, the kite, and the falcon after its kind; every raven after its kind, the ostrich, the short-eared owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after its kind; the little owl, the fisher owl, and the screech owl; the white owl, the jackdaw, and the carrion vulture; the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.” Leviticus 11:13-19 NKJV

Insects

“All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination to you.Yet these you may eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth. These you may eat: the locust after its kind, the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. But all other flying insects which have four feet shall be an abomination to you.” Leviticus 11:20-23 NKJV

“For every beast of the forest is Mine,
And the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the mountains,
And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.

Psalm 50:10-11 NKJV

Do the Old Testament Food Laws Still Apply?

There is much debate among believers as to whether these Old Testament Food Laws still apply to us today. The Early Church Leaders debated this issue as well. For arguments sake, let’s look at a few related New Testament scriptures.

The Jerusalem Council

In Acts Chapter 15, the early church Apostles and Elders came together to discuss the integration of gentile converts and which parts of the law of Moses they should keep. This is known as the Jerusalem Council. Out of the entire law, the requirements for gentile converts was narrowed down to three dietary restrictions and the prohibition against sexual immorality:

  1. Gentile converts must refrain from eating any animals that have been strangled to death.

  2. Gentile converts must refrain from eating anything offered up to idols.

  3. Gentile converts must refrain from eating the blood of an animal.

“And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: {Amos 9:11}

“After this I will return
And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down;
I will rebuild its ruins,
And I will set it up;
So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name,
Says the Lord who does all these things.’”

“Known to God from eternity are all His works. Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” Acts 15: 13-21 NKJV

The Jerusalem Decree

After an agreement was reached, the Apostles and Elders put the prohibition against sexual immorality as well as the dietary requirements for gentile converts in writing, this is known as the Jerusalem Decree. They wrote the Decree in letters that would be sent out to the Gentile believers at that time.

“Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren. They wrote this letter by them:

The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, to the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.

Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”, to whom we gave no such commandment. It seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

Acts Chapter 21

The Jerusalem Decree is also reiterated in Acts Chapter 21. After clearing up some confusion with the Apostle Paul, James and the Elders reemphasize the Jerusalem Decree as the moral standard for gentiles coming into the faith.

“On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. When he had greeted them, he told in detail those things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law; but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come. Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow. Take them and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads, and that all may know that those things of which they were informed concerning you are nothing, but that you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law.

But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.Acts 17:25NKJV

Jesus

When we fast forward to Revelation chapter two, Jesus himself warned the Church at Thyatira against sexual immorality and eating things sacrificed to idols.

“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works” Revelation 2:20-23

Today’s Animal Meat & Dairy Industry

Babylon’s Food and Drug system is a system of animal slavery, demonic rituals and animal sacrifice. This system is numb to the ruthless treatment and inhumane killing of animals. We cannot imagine the cruelty and abuse so many animals endure day and night just to feed our bellies and meet mass production demands.

Against their will, many animals are constantly forced fed drugs, terribly mistreated and endure horrific living conditions. Most of these animals never see the light of day or eat the green grass as God intended. Instead, they spend their lives indoors, sick with disease, shoulder to shoulder, while standing in their own feces and urine.

Female animals in this system are especially oppressed because they are artificially forced into a constant state of pregnancy. Their milk never feeds their own babies. Instead, their babies are immediately ripped away from them at birth. Could you imagine that kind of life?

In one of my favorite books, {I’ve read it three times!} Herbal Home Health Care, Dr. John R. Christopher gives a sobering fact about Cow’s milk:

The baby, as it nurses at the mother’s breast, is still receiving its daily blood transfusion, because milk is pure blood with only the red corpuscles eliminated. Each mammal has the ability at birth to make its own red corpuscles. Each mamal has marrow in its bones and additional organs to assist in this procedure. Therefore the mother retains and recycles her red corpuscles within herself, and the baby makes its own red corpuscles, but it needs the food carried by the mother’s blood (now milk) to continue its growth.”

Several years ago, we watched the documentary, Food Inc {Part One}.This documentary exposes the unimaginable and inhumane practices of the animal meat and dairy industries. Since then, many other documentaries have come out exposing these truths. If you have never seen this documentary, or have no knowledge of these practices, it’s worth taking the time to see for yourself. Food Inc. and others are available for free on You Tube.

“When you [priests] present the blind [animals] for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Offer such a thing [as a blind or lame or sick animal] to your governor [as a gift or as payment for your taxes]. Would he be pleased with you? Or would he receive you graciously?” says the LORD of hosts.”

Malachi 1:8 AMP

In another one of my favorite books, Dr. Mom’s Healthy Living, gives some very disturbing facts about the Meat and Dairy industry:

“In the average American Diet, 44% of our consumption is from animal products! The most detrimental part of this is not the fact that almost half of our diet is coming from dead animals, but the contaminants in those animals and their by-products, such as eggs and milk. If you are buying meat and animal products from a grocery store, you need to understand that most of those animals have been pumped full of steroids, hormones, immunizations, antibiotics, and pesticides. There are a lot chemicals used on these animals to get them to grow fast and live long enough to make it to the slaughter house. When you ingest any of these by products into your body, you are also taking in all of these chemicals.”

“When a cow is slaughtered, about half of it by weight is not eaten by bumans: the intestines and their contents, the head, hooves, and horns, as well as the bones and blood. These are dumped into giant grinders at rendering plants, as are the entire bodies of cows and other farm animals known to be diseased. Rendering is a 2.4 billion-a-year industry, processing forty billion pounds of dead animals a year. There is simply no such thing in America as an animal too ravished by disease, too cancerous, or too putrid to be welcomed by the all-embracing arms of the renderer. Another staple in the renderers diet, in addition to farm animals, is euthanized pets-the six or seven million dogs and cats that are killed in animal shelters every year. The city of Los Angeles, for example, sends some two hundred tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a rendering plant every month. Added to the blend are the euthanized catch of animal control agencies, and roadkill. When this gruesome mix is ground and steam cooked, the lighter, fatty material floating to the top gets refined for use in such products as cosmetics, lubricants, soaps, candles, and waxes. The heavier protein material is dried up and pulverized into a brown powder- about a quarter of which consists of fecal matter. The powder is used as an additive to almost all pet foods as well as livestock feed. Farmers call it “protein concentrates”.

Yikes! Clearly these unthinkable ritualistic slaughtering practices are not of God. When we buy animal products in any form, {unless from a trusted source}, we can assume it most likely does not meet ethical or Biblical standards.

Being Good Stewards Over God’s Creation

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Genesis 1:26 KJV

Land and sea creatures are God’s creation. God cares for the animals and he has commanded us to care for them as well. The scriptures regarding dietary restrictions coupled with the hard facts of Babylon’s system of animal abuse and sacrifice for profit, raise important questions like:

  • Are we being good stewards of God’s Creation?

  • Does God approve of Animal abuse?

  • Have we made eating animals an idol?

  • Should we be eating Biblically unclean animals?

  • How do we know if an animal we are consuming was not strangled to death?

  • How do we know if an animal we are consuming was properly slaughtered and if the blood was completely drained out?

  • How do we know if an animal we are consuming was not offered up to an idol?

  • How do we know if we are eating an animal that was sick or abused?

  • Do we worship eating the creature more than the Creator?

Although certain animal flesh is Biblically permitted to eat, it was not God’s original design for humans to eat animals or for animals to eat animals. His original dietary plan for land animals at Creation, was a diet of every green herb.

“And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.” Genesis 1:30 KJV.

When we eat an animals flesh, we are also eating what they were eating. It is really important to buy animal flesh from a trusted source. One that treats their animals with respect and allows them to freely roam, eat the green grass and get lots of sunshine. This way we can know that we are consuming an animal that ate from the earth. Remember, in God’s Food & Medical System, every living thing was designed to return back to the earth.

Scripture reminds us that every living thing was brought forth by the hand of God. Animals are His creation, and should be treated with kindness and respect. They are intelligent and have emotions. If we take the time to understand them, the Bible says, they can teach us humans a thing or two.

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:7-10 KJV

“A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”

Proverbs 12:10 NKJV

The Original Diet Restored

Gods original intention at Creation, was a perfect world without sin, death and the killing, eating and sacrificing of animals. Thankfully this corrupted world is temporary and one day, those in Christ can look forward to a new and perfect world, where peace and harmony between humanity and animals will one day be restored. There will be no more curse, no more death or predator vs. prey. God will again dwell among His people for all eternity, just as He intended in the garden of Eden.

“And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4 KJV

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.

Isaiah 11:6-8 NKJV

The restoration of the Original Diet, is prophesied for the coming New Jerusalem. In this city, the Tree of Life is restored and will be a consistent source of tree food and medicine to heal the nations. Not only will this be a restoration of the Original Diet, it was also be the restoration of all things.

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Revelation 22:1-2 KJV

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14 KJV

Misused Dietary Terms

Herbs

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.” Hebrews 6:7-8 KJV

What are Herbs?

Before I dive deeper into the Original Diet, I first wanted to briefly explain the true meaning of some common food related terms that are often misinterpreted. Biblically, certain words have different meanings than how we understand them to mean today.

As I studied the Original Diet given to all life in Genesis Chapter One verse 29, there were three words that stood out to me as words that are often misused. The first being the word “herb”.

Most people associate the word herb to just mean spices or medicinal plants. Technically, spices and medicinal plants are herbs. However, herbs are not just limited to spices and medicinal plants. All green plants and trees are “herbs”. This means that all plant and tree produce that we know as vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, beans, and nuts are all actually herbs bearing seed.

The Topical Encyclopedia defines the word herb this way:

In the Bible, herbs are frequently mentioned as part of the natural world created by God, serving various purposes such as food, medicine, and offerings. The term "herb" in biblical times generally referred to any plant used for culinary or medicinal purposes, including vegetables and aromatic plants.”

The word “herb” simply means “plant” or green vegetation. Various Bible translations aside from the King James Version, replace the word herb with plant. Here is one example:

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”Genesis 1:29 KJV

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, which has seed in its fruit; to you it shall be for food.” Genesis 1:29 KJV 2000

Seeds can also be considered herbs. Herbs that bear seed, are plants that bear new life. This new life, is the continuation or lineage of an herbs particular kind. Some herbs grow tall becoming trees. We see a perfect example of this in the Parable of the Mustard Seed. I elaborate on the “seed” further on in this post and also at the end of Part One.

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

In this parable, Jesus compares a grain of mustard seed to the Kingdom of Heaven using the divine process of plant reproduction. While making this comparison, Jesus chose to hi-lite the grain of a mustard seed as “the least of all seeds.” He explains that when this tiny seed is sown or planted back into the earth, it becomes the greatest of all herbs, growing taller than all the other herbs and eventually becoming a tree.

“Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.” Matthew 13:31-32 KJV

The words seed, herb and tree in this case, are all one and the same. The same parable in Mark chapter four, leaves out the word tree. When describing the growing process of a mustard seed in this verse, the word herb stands in place of the word tree, but yet the characteristics of a tree are clearly described by the mention of it’s “great branches”:When a mustard seed is grown, it becomes larger than all the other herbs that puts out great branches.”

“And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.” Mark 4:30-32 KJV

The same Parable in Luke, Chapter 13, leaves out the word herb when describing the seeds progression of becoming a tree.

“When said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.” Luke 13:18-19 KJV

Here’s one interpretation of the Parable of the Mustard Seed from the book, “God’s Healing Herbs” :

“The Bible teaches about the mustard seed and how it grows to be the biggest plant in the garden. You can see this is true when you compare the size of the seed with the size of the plant that grows from it. There are many varieties of mustard. Some are like trees, and that is why Jesus said that even the birds could rest in them. Mark 4:32 uses the mustard seed in a parable about the faith that we can develop. God gives us faith as a little seed to be watered and nourished by the Holy Spirit. The plant grows profusely and is great reminder of how a little seed of faith can grow in us a great faith in knowing that “faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” { Hebrews 11:1}.

`Honey Mustard

I don’t want to get too sidetracked here but I thought it was worth mentioning some interesting facts about the incredible mustard seed. Just as with all of God’s creations of seed bearing herbs, Mustard has many uses.

Mustard seeds and greens are both edible and medicinal. The seeds can be pressed into an oil or used as a natural preservative. Paired with vinegar, mustard seeds can also be ground into a paste to make what we know as “mustard”.

Here is an interesting quote about lost medicinal remedy of mustard seed plasters {or mustard poultice} from the book, The Peoples Pharmacy, Home and Herbal Remedies:

“There was a time when mustard plasters were considered the standard treatment for chest congestion and cough. This is, we fear, a lost art. We can’t say it was particularly helpful, but for decades, family doctors used to recommend it.”

Just as with other trees in God’s Creation, the wood from the mustard tree provides a natural resource for humans and animals. Jesus hi-lites this by mentioning “the great branches” of this tree, that provide shelter for the birds as well as an ecosystem for other animals, insects and creeping things.

This is not an extensive list of all of the functions of the amazing Mustard plant but definitely enough to establish a clear pattern of the thoughtfulness of God’s creation. Our Creator did not miss one single detail with He created seed bearing herbs to supply us with food, medicine and an abundance of natural resources. I elaborate on seed bearing herbs further down in this post.

What is fruit?

“There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.” Isaiah 11:1-2 ESV

Another word that stands out to me from Genesis 1:29, is the word “fruit”.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”Genesis 1:29 KJV

In our modern understanding, the word “fruit” is often associated with sweet produce such as apples or oranges. However, biblically in terms of food, the word “fruit” simply just means produce. Just think of the “produce” section at the grocery store. The produce section contains many different kinds of seed bearing herb and tree foods with various different colors, shapes, sizes and tastes. Vegetables, grains, nuts, beans and legumes are all technically “fruit” born from their specific plant kind or plant species.

In Genesis 1:29, God gave humanity a diet of every herb and tree “fruit” or produce that bears seed. When we think of a fruit bearing seed as a reward or as an offspring, it becomes way more than just food. It is a living creation of God that bears new life within itself.

For example, two years ago, I planted some lemon seeds that I took from an organic, store bought lemon {Genetically modified seeds from store bought fruit will not reproduce more fruit}. The lemon seeds sprouted, took root and grew into a beautiful lemon tree. However, the lemon tree has yet to yeild “fruit” or an actual lemon. When the tree finally produces an actual lemon, that lemon itself will be the reward or blessing I have been waiting for. The lemon will be a reward because it can serve as a provision of both a source of nutrition and medicine. The lemon is also a reward or blessing because it contains seeds or “new life” within itself that can then be replanted back into the earth, to carry on the life of the lemon.

Biblically, the word “fruit”, not only means the “reward” or “offspring” of an herb or tree, but it can also refer to the literal offspring of humans and animals. The words fruit, produce, reward and offspring are interchangeable. One great example of this is in Deuteronomy Chapter 28. The author believed to be Moses writes of the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience. In verse 4, we see the word fruit being used in three roles: fruit of the body, fruit of the ground, and the fruit of thy cattle.

“Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.” Dueteronomy 28:4 KJV

Other Bible translations replace the word fruit with the words offspring, increase, descendants, or produce.

“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.” Dueteronomy 28:4 NKJV

{Side note: I am not promoting modern Bible translations, rather carefully using them as palatable points of reference. Many modern Bible translations are in error, adding and taking away from the original text. I experienced this first hand one day, some years ago while studying Matthew Chapter 17, verse 21. In this verse, Jesus is warning his disciples that certain demons only go away with fasting and prayer. “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21 KJV. Many modern translations take this scripture out entirely. This is very dangerous for the manufacturers of these translations because the Bible firmly warns us in Revelation 22:18-19 and other scriptures, not to add or subtract anything from the word of God. On the other hand, modern translations can be helpful to a new reader because they are easier to understand. Many new believers, including us, started out reading a modern Bible translation. Despite the inaccuracies and error of the manufacturers, we believe God can still speak through modern translations and guide us to the truth if we are diligently seeking him. Ephesians 6:17, tells us that the Bible is the “sword of the Spirit”. We agree with Pastor Adam Fannin of Law of Liberty Church on Youtube as he calls the King James Bible the “sharpest sword.” Now that we have that out of the way, let’s continue on with the Bible Diet.}

The Blessings of Obedience

The First Blessing of Obedience is the fruit of the body”. The word fruit here refers to literal human offspring or children. In Dueteronomy Chapter 7, we see a similar promise of obedience. In this scripture, the “fruit of the body” is the same as the “fruit of your womb”.

“And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.” Dueteronomy 7:13 KJV

Children are precious gifts, blessings and rewards from our Creator. Each offspring or child, was divinely created to carry on its families seed or lineage. Male children bear the family seed within themselves. Through the process of procreation, females house the family seed or “fruit” in the womb, eventually bringing forth new life and the continuation of the family lineage.

The Second Blessing of Obedience in verse 4 is the “fruit of thy ground” or fruit of the earth. Fruit in this case is the edible food, produce or offspring of an herb or a tree. Edible fruit is a blessing of sustenance and nourishment. Fruit that bears seed within itself is also a blessing because the seed is the continuation of its specific kind of fruit. As we just saw with the Mustard and Lemon Herbs, seeds can be re-planted back into the earth and will eventually yield more fruit bearing seed, offspring or new life. Fruit of the ground is also a reward from the hard work of planting, pruning, watering and patiently waiting for the final yield of a fruitful herb that began as a tiny seed.

The Third Blessing of Obedience in verse 4 is “ the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.” Fruit in this case is blessing, reward and offspring. As with all other land animals, cattle and sheep also bear seed or offspring within themselves able to reproduce and carry on the life of each animal kind. Cattle and sheep in Bible days and in some cultures around the world today, are symbols of prosperity. Sheep fiber or “wool” for example, provides humans with several natural resources like clothing. After the Genesis Flood, certain animal flesh became a source food and played major roles in the Old Testament system of animal sacrifice.

“And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. Numbers 28:3 KJV

The words offspring and fruit can also mean “seed”, both spiritually and physically. There are several references of this throughout the Bible. When it comes to actual fruit or vegetation, many function as both fruit and seed. Take for example a grain of rice. A grain of brown rice could be cooked and eaten (as “fruit”) or it could be sprouted and replanted (as seed) to grow a new rice plant.

Sweet Potato Slips

Another example of a fruit as seed is the sweet potato. The sweet potato itself is the edible reward, fruit or produce of the sweet potato plant. However, the sweet potato also bears seed within itself. As a sweet potato matures, it produces eyes or sprouts that become “slips”{pictured above}. Sweet potato slips are very healthy, edible heart shaped green leaves. However, slips can also be sown or planted to grow new sweet potatoes. Sweet potato slips are a great survival food that are incredibly easy to grow indoors, using either soil or the hydroponic method.

The word “fruit” according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is defined in three ways: One as in “outcome” or “a condition or occurrence traceable to a cause. Secondly, fruit is defined as “production” orsomething produced by physical or intellectual effort”. And third as in “offspring” meaning “the descendants of a person, animal, or plant”. When defining the word fruit as offspring, they refer to the Bible, noting that “According to the Bible, God promised Abraham that the fruit of his loins would someday become a great nation.

“Fruit” is a major part of Creation and the foundational sustenance for all life. Throughout the entire Bible, the word “fruit”and other dietary terms are often used as metaphors. Repetition of these terms in scripture, emphasize God’s intimacy with His Creation. One well known example of this is the “fruit of the Spirit”. Just as herbs and trees physically produce fruit, spiritually, humans with faith in Jesus can produce the fruits of the spirit.

The Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5:22-26 KJV

What is Meat?

Notice the word “meat” referenced in Genesis 1:29, is not referring to animal flesh, but to “every herb bearing seed” and “fruit of a tree yielding seed”. Another words, “meat” in this context is actually the fruit, food, or produce of any herb or tree.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Genesis 1:29 KJV

The word “meat” according to the Bible actually just means food. God’s original intention was for all life to depend on the fruit (the final yield of a plant or tree) that bears seed for diet. He also gave all the green herb (seed and non seed bearing) for the sustenance of the animals, and everything that moves on the earth.

In our modern perception, the word “meat” is often understood to just mean animal flesh. Technically, animal flesh is considered meat or food. However, biblically the word “meat” in general terms, applies to all sorts of food, mainly herb and tree produce.

Bread

“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Dueteronomy 8:3 KJV

Bread for example, Biblically, would be considered “meat”. In John Chapter Six, Jesus miraculously fed 5,000 people with just five Barley loaves and two fishes. When speaking to the crowd afterwards he uses the word loaves {bread} and the word meat interchangeably.

“Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” John 6:26-27 KJV

Another Biblical example of bread as “meat” in 1 Kings chapter 19. In this account, the Prophet Elijah is on the run for his life. On his journey through the wilderness, Elijah prayed that he might die. Instead, God sent an angel with bread and water to nourish and strengthen him. The bread in this case was divine like manna, however bread in general is a plant food from the earth. The provisions of bread and water in this case were considered “meat” or food. The scripture says, Elijah went in the “strength of that meat” or “food and water” for 40 days and 40 nights.

“And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.” 1 Kings 19:5-8 KJV

The New King James Versions replaces the word “meat” with “food”.

“So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.” 1 Kings 19:8 NKJV

In the Bible and in many cultures today, bread is a highly regarded staple food. For instance, when I visited my brother in Kuwait, I noticed that bread and hummus is a common Middle Eastern meal.

In my early thirties, after I learned the truth about manmade “foods and medicines”, I made a lot of drastic changes in my life. I wanted to start buying healthier foods but I was working with a small grocery budget, so I decided to start making certain foods from scratch. One of those foods was bread.

Lots of people avoid eating bread, but I for one love bread and there is no shame in my game. Im thankful to have been able to make bread from scratch for my family. Eating bread when it comes out of the oven is truly an event in our home. In addition to creating memories and saving money, hand making bread for my family makes me feel closer to our Creator.

Jesus is the Bread of Life

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:

he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

John 6:35 KJV

Biblically, bread has both spiritual and physical significance. From the Old Testament to the New, bread is a consistent theme. According to the King James Online Study Bible, there are 330 instances of the word bread in the King James Bible.

Physically, {real} bread is a blessing and gift of nourishment from our Creator. Spiritually, bread is a symbol of Jesus Christ. In John Chapter Six, Jesus refers to himself as The Bread of Life” sent from Heaven, declaring his flesh as the spiritual sustenance that gives eternal life.

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” John 6:32-33 KJV

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” Matthew 6:25 KJV

Another example of the word “meat” as food, is the humble diet of John the Baptist. In Matthew Chapter Three, we see John’s diet of locusts and wild honey, was considered “meat”. Locusts are a kind of grasshopper. Locusts are actually considered a permissible food by God, according to Leviticus 11:22.

“And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.” Matthew 3:4 KJV

“Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. Matthew 3:4 NKJV

John was more concerned about preparing the way for Jesus and calling people to repentance, than he was about the clothes he wore or the food he ate. Imagine if all of God’s children today lived as modestly as John the Baptist?

“After some time, when he returned to get her, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion. And behold, a swarm of bees and honey were in the carcass of the lion. He took some of it in his hands and went along, eating.”

Judges 14:8-9 KJV

Honey is a sweet, tasty gift of nutrition and medicine from our Creator. But aside from its medicinal and nutritional properties, Honey also has a very long shelf life. Honey is a natural preservative and a great option for preserving herbs. Some of my favorite herbal honey infusions are ginger, lemon, eucalyptus and pine needle honey. I like to keep a jar of Fermented Garlic Honey, Fermented Onion Honey on hand. Both can be added to foods for taste, to boost immunity or in times of sickness. Since our boys were little, Honey and Cayenne has been my go to for relief and healing of sore throats.

Another way that we use honey is for burns. Last year I accidentally spilled boiling hot water on the left side of my upper body. The scorching heat went right through my clothes and caused a severe burn to my skin. In combination with Aloe and Ice, I placed Burn Paste directly on the burn day and night and held it in place with a cotton flannel and secured it with an ace bandage. The burn paste provided instant relief from the pain and helped to speed up the healing time. Here is the Burn Paste recipe that I used from the book Herbal Home Healthcare:

“The following Burn Paste formula can be used for the mildest to the most severe third-degree burns with assurance of healing, if used as instructed. This paste has been used by hundreds of people with great success, and is made as follows. Mix equal parts of raw liquid honey, wheat germ oil and comfrey. The comfrey can be chopped or powdered, fresh or dried leaf or root, or in the Complete Tissue and Bone Formula (powdered form). When the mixture is the consistency of a heavy spreadable paste, it is ready for use. If it is too thick to spread add a little more wheat germ oil. Apply it a half-inch thick or more over the entire area that has been burned, scalded, etc. Cover with something that won't stick such as clean fresh blanched (submerge in boiled water for one minute, remove and cool) burdock leaves or red lettuce, or spinach or any soft pliable leaves and then gently wrap with guaze, or cloth. Observe the burned area from day to day. If paste has been absorbed, add more on top of the application. Do not remove the original paste application; just add to it as it is absorbed into the skin. This paste will keep well for many months at room temperature if kept in a tightly closed jar. Always have it on hand for emergencies. You may want to carry a small jar on trips in case of emergencies.”

{ Side note: you can purchase Dr. Christopher’s Complete Tissue and Bone Formula online, in capsules, syrup, and cut or powdered form. This is a wonderful healing formula that I have been using for years to treat various conditions. For instance, our youngest son has slight deformity in both of his feet from walking on his toes as a child. He takes the capsules internally. Externally, I use the cut version of this formula to make an herbal balm that I apply to his feet at night and then cover with wool or cotton socks. When he was playing basketball, his feet would hurt after practice. After sleeping with the balm on his feet overnight, he experienced pain relief in the morning. Over time, we have noticed a considerable difference in the overall health and condition of his feet since using this herbal formula. As a family, we have used Dr. Christopher’s Complete Tissue and Bone Formula for sprains, breaks and injuries with great success. According to Herbal Home Healthcare, this herbal combination is useful for also treating things like: broken bones, sprains, torn ligaments, varicose veins, curvature of the spine, pulled muscles and calcium spores.

“My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.”

Proverbs 24:13-14 KJV

Here are some interesting facts about honey according to The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies:

Honey is made by bees. It is made up of concentrated flower nectar that bees break down into simple sugars using an enzyme in their salivary glands {invertase}. It is then deposited into honeycomb for long-term storage. Honey contains many medicinal qualities taken from the flower. Once the honey has been cooked or diluted, these properties may no longer exist in beneficial quantities. I prefer to use undiluted raw honey, as it contains pollen and parts of the waxen honeycomb in addition to the honey itself. Honey has a rich medicinal history. It has been used since ancient times for the dressing of wounds and as a cough suppressant.”

Here’s another interesting quote about Honey from, The Folk Remedy Encyclopedia, “Deal with Diarrhea naturally”. “If it seems like your spending more time in the bathroom than out if it, find relief right in your pantry. Kill the bacteria that cause diarrhea by mixing three teaspoons of honey with 10 ounces of water. You’ll soothe your stomach and bash that bloated, cramped feeling.

Honey may seem like a “wonder drug” for diarrhea, but thats not all it can fix. Check out these other honey therapies.

  • Perfect for minor cuts, burns and emergency first aid, a little dab of honey can protect you from infection, scarring and swelling.

  • To relieve your sneezing and wheezing from allergies and asthma, try eating a daily tablespoon of locally produced honey. Your immune system will become used to the local pollen in it and won’t kick into overdrive.

  • If you suffer from insomnia, honest boosts a chemical that calms you down and helps you sleep.”

Unfortunately, not all Honey on the market today is the real deal. Some beekeepers feed their bees sugar and or dilute their honey and use pesticides and insecticides in the growing process. To reap the medicinal benefits, look for pure, raw honey from a trusted source.

I am always on the hunt for good quality genuine raw honey! A few years ago, My husband and I took a trip to Indiana. While driving through Tennessee, we stopped and bought some local honey from a company called Tennessee Artisan Honey. I loved the honey so much I have continued to order it online. I really appreciate the quality of the honey as well as the mindful growing practices of the company. What makes this honey extra special in my opinion, is that it is grown in an area of the Appalachian Mountains which are free from commercial farming and pesticide spraying.

Lord willing, I plan to write more on the medicinal uses of Honey in the coming Home Remedies Section on this site.

Seed Bearing Herbs

“As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.” Song of Solomon 2:3 KJV

Now that we have established the true meaning behind some commonly missed used dietary terms, let’s take a closer look at The Original Diet of seed bearing herbs.

An Herb or Tree bearing seed is a plant that bears seed(s) or “new life” within itself. The seed also bears new life within itself and each seed bears its own distinctive kind. Hopefully that made sense! For example, take the apples pictured above. I’m not exactly sure what kind of apples are represented here, but for illustration purposes, let’s call them “fuji apples".

The fuji apple itself is the fruit or offspring of the fuji apple tree. Inside of each apple, there are seeds. These seeds are the fuji apples “offspring”, new life or the continuation of its distinctive kind (fuji). These seeds bear new life within themselves and can be replanted to produce a new fuji apple tree.

In the case of the fuji apple or any other kind of apple, the seeds inside of the fruit are obvious to the eye. However, in many cases, fruit seeds are not immediately visible. One reason is that the fruit itself is the seed. This is the case with the sweet potato that I wrote about earlier on in this post.

The regenerative cycle of plant life, is our Creator’s thoughtful way of continuing the life of each specific kind of herb and providing us with a consistent supply of living plant food and medicine. An herb bearing seed not only produces edible seed bearing fruit with new life inside itself, but also provides many natural resources for all life. Just as we saw earlier with the mustard seed, one single herb bearing seed has many uses. {I expand more on the seed in Part One of this series.}

God’s Natural Resources

Throughout the entire Bible, from beginning to end, seed bearing Herbs and Trees are a common theme holding both spiritual and physical significance. Physically, Seed bearing Herbs and Trees are God’s natural resources from the earth that He created for all life.

Aside from providing food, seed bearing herbs and trees serve humanity and animals in a number of resourceful ways such as; filtering the air, generating oxygen to help us breathe and producing various kinds of medicines, oils, milks, juices, fibers, dyes, esthetics, scents, and wood, etc. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of the amazing uses of seed bearing plants. I’m sure I am just scratching the surface here!

In our modernized world of manmade fabrics, dyes, scents, foods and medicines, we have lost much of our dependency and understanding of all of the amazing natural resources that seed bearing Herbs and Trees provide. However, manmade synthetic versions pale in comparison to the superior quality of our Creator’s provisions of natural resources. Seed bearing Herbs and Trees from the earth are living creations of God that are designed to work with our living earthen bodies.

Seed bearing herbs and trees glorify our Creator’s handiwork and hi-light His creativity and thoughtfulness towards all life. Our Creator designed seed bearing Herbs and Trees to provide us with everything we could ever possibly need. Our Heavenly Father literally thought of every single detail when He created these amazing living creations.

“I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,
The myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine
And the box tree together, That they may see and know,
And consider and understand together,
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
And the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Isaiah 41:19-20 KJV

Tree wood for instance, is an extremely resourceful blessing from our Creator that can be repurposed in various ways such as; providing shelter for humans and wild animals, mulch for landscaping, firewood, furniture, beads for jewelry making and household uses such as cutting boards, bowls, plates and utensils. In the Bible, there are several references to wood being used as a sacred building material. For example, Acacia Wood was specifically chosen by God to build the Ark of the Covenant.

“And they shall make an ark of acacia wood; two and a half cubits shall be its length, a cubit and a half its width, and a cubit and a half its height. And you shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and shall make on it a molding of gold all around. Exodus 25:10-11 KJV

Tree wood also provides us with Fire. In Bible days, fire would have been an extremely important natural resource. With no electricity, manual cooking required actual fire. In John Chapter 21, Jesus and His Disciples, caught and cooked fish and baked bread on a fire of coals right on the beach! Anyone who knows me knows how cool I think this is!

“As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.” John 21:9-10 KJV

One of our favorite things to do as a family is sit around a fire on Sabbath, bake bread over the coals and catch up on life. With all of life’s business, I deeply appreciate spending time with my family while enjoying the beauty, warmth and distinct sounds of a burning fire. In recent years, we have been making it a point to practice manual living. Learning off grid skills such as building a fire, puts our Creator’s resources to good use and helps to better equip us for the hard times ahead.

Fire

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:28-29 KJV

Aside from cooking, fire would have been necessary for common tasks like boiling water, making pottery, burning garbage, melting metals and providing light at night. In scripture, we see that God himself is a consuming fire that provided light for the Israelites in the desert.

And the LORD went before them in a pillar of cloud to guide their way by day, and in a pillar of fire to give them light by night, so that they could travel by day or night.” Exodus 13:21 KJV

Spiritually, fire symbolizes the presence of God. In Exodus Chapter Three, the Angel of the Lord supernaturally appeared to Moses in flame of fire within a bush.

“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.” Exodus 3:1-3 KJV

Fire also symbolizes purification and is sometimes used as a judgement of God. {I elaborate more on this in Part One of this series.}

Spiritual Symbolism

Seed bearing herbs also provide us with the natural resources of aroma and medicine. The word Aroma in the Bible has both spiritual and physical symbolism. Spiritually, the word aroma in the Old Testament was the result of a burnt offering made unto God. For example, when the waters receded after the world wide flood, Noah built an altar unto the Lord where he offered burnt offerings of every clean animal and bird. The aroma from the burnt offerings was a pleasing smell unto the Lord.

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.” Genesis 8:21 NKJV

In the New Testament, spiritually speaking, the word aroma is used metaphorically. After Jesus, the Old Testament sacrificial system of literal burnt offerings was replaced with spiritual offerings and sacrifices. For example, in first Peter, we see believers in Christ who walk in the spirit, are acceptable spiritual sacrifices unto the Lord.

“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5 KJV

In Second Corinthians chapter two, sincere followers of Christ are described as “having the aroma of Christ” before God. This isn’t meant as a literal scent but as a spiritual scent that is pleasing to God.

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.” Corinthians 2:15-16 ESV

I don’t know about you, but I personally never want to give off a stench unto God or a “fragrance from death to death!

Fragrance

Physically, the word aroma means a scent or fragrance distinct to a specific plant. The Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary defines the word aroma this way:

(n.) A pleasant fragrance; the quality or principle of plants or other substances which constitutes their fragrance; agreeable odor; as, the aroma of coffee.

Seed bearing herbs also provide us with essential oils and aromatherapy. Throughout the Bible, aromatic flowers and herbs are frequently mentioned. There are so many wonderful scents in God’s Creation. One example is the “sweet smelling” herbal ingredients in the sacred anointing oil cited in Exodus Chapter 30.

“Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.” Exodus 30:23-25 KJV

Aside from aroma, the ingredients of myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, cassia and olive oil, each provide their own specific medicinal properties and natural resources. Cinnamon for example, has a very distinct smell yet it is also edible and highly medicinal. Taking cinnamon in the form of tea, is a nice way to enjoy both the aroma and taste of cinnamon while also reaping all of its health benefits.

“I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.”

Proverbs 7:16-18 KJV

Cinnamon

Here’s a Folk Remedy about Cinnamon from The Folk Remedy Encyclopedia:

“Just one-fourth to one teaspoon of cinnamon every day could be enough to control blood sugar and avoid diabetes. Cinnamon can help your fat cells recognize and respond to insulin better- a process that goes haywire in diabetes. Add cinnamon to your breakfast cereals, beverages, and always eat a sensible diet. A sprinkle might slow down this modern-day plague.”

The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine confirms these facts about cinnamon’s effect on insulin:

“Insulin resistance- it has a distinct role to play in promoting better blood glucose levels and in preventing insulin resistance- the impaired uptake of sugar by cells that is a warning sign for diabetes. One suggestion, as part of a wider regimen for diabetes and metabolic syndrome, is to take up to 3 tsp. of cinnamon powder a day for 4 months.”

Here are some other interesting facts about the powerful medicinal properties of Cinnamon from the book Herbal Medicine:

“The inner bark of the shoots of the cinnamon tree is a powerful local stimulant which acts to ease the stomach and relieve spasms; it is also a mild astringent. Like cloves it acts in a local rather than in a general way on the body. Cinnamon is used a good deal in herbal medicine to overcome the unpleasant odors of certain herbs and to act as a partner with other herbs. It is helpful in diarrhea and is said to be helpful for children in bedwetting and as sleep medicine for children. Cinnamon, with other herbs, is an antinausea aid. It is an old English flu-preventative.”

Personally, we have experienced the healing power of cinnamon first hand when dealing with digestive and respiratory issues. In times of sinus and chest congestion, we boil a large pot of water with cinnamon sticks {and grapefruit, lemon, lime or orange peels, whichever I have on hand, and sometimes salt alone}. Once boiled, we sit over the pot, cover our head with a towel and inhale the steam until the water cools off. If you should try this, please make sure to be very careful not to burn yourself and make a window with the towel or blanket for ventilation. One pot usually lasts 3 days on the stove if covered when not using.

“And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him.”

2 Chronicles 16:14 KJV

Essential Oils

In our home, we also use seed bearing herbs and trees in the form of essential oils instead of traditional air fresheners. Essential oils are the perfect alternative to toxic synthetic fragrances. {I elaborate more on synthetic fragrances in Part Three.} We diffuse essential oils in our home using water based air washers. I add drops of essential oils to the water and the whole house smells wonderful. However, the wonderful smell isn’t their only benefit. Essential oils bear the plants medicinal properties. As a preventative and in times of sickness I can add specific oils to work medicinally in the air. I also use essential oils to add scent to homemade cleaning products, balms and candles. My favorite plant scents to diffuse are cinnamon, peppermint, eucalyptus, lemon, lemongrass, rosemary and lavender.

Here are some interesting facts about Essential Oils from the book: The Big Book of Essential Oil Recipes for Health & Healing:

“Essential oil is extracted from plants via many ways but the most common of them is steam distillation, a process which separates the oil and water based plant compounds. The plants they are extracted from contain very powerful healing compounds. This is why they (essential oils) retain the very powerful healing properties of their mother plant. Additionally, Essential oils are highly concentrated with a strong aroma. At times, it takes just one drop to provide the much needed grit health benefits. However, that one drop may be extracted from a large quantity of plants. For instance, one pound of lavender essential oil is extracted from about 150 pounds of lavender flowers! Do we see how highly concentrated essential oils are? So essentially {no pun meant}, you will be getting 150 times the healing properties from lavender essential oils than you would get from using straight lavender flower.”

Biblically, the word Aroma or fragrance is the scent produced by a particular herb or tree. The aroma and medicinal properties of herbs and trees was preserved and made into balms, tinctures, perfumes and ointments. An Apothecary or “perfumer” in scripture refers to someone who was knowledgable of the scents and medicinal properties of herbs and specialized in preserving them for enjoyment and medicinal uses.

The Topical Encyclopedia defines Apothecary this way:

“In biblical times, the term "apothecary" referred to individuals skilled in the preparation and compounding of perfumes, ointments, and medicinal substances. The role of the apothecary was significant in ancient Israelite society, as they were responsible for creating the sacred anointing oils and incense used in religious rituals and ceremonies.”

One of my favorite hobbies is making medicinal balms. Making balms for me, is both therapeutic and rewarding. I really enjoy experimenting with different herbal blends. For instance, my husband’s favorite balm is made from a blend of menthol crystals, camphor crystals, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon balm, yarrow, feverfew and willow bark. For us, this herbal blend works really well for pain, headaches and congestion. In addition to its medicinal properties, this herbal blend smells amazing.

Clothing

“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made

themselves aprons.”

Genesis 3:7 KJV

Before sin entered into the world, God created humans to be naked. The first humans initially did not wear clothing and they were not ashamed of their nakedness.

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:24-25 KJV

After Adam and Eve sinned against God in the garden, they became aware and ashamed of their nakedness. They tried to hide from God and made clothing out of fig leaves to cover themselves. Although they betrayed their Creator, God in His graciousness, made coats out of animal skin and clothed them.

“Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Genesis 3:21 KJV

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.”  Proverbs 31:10-14 KJV

In addition to certain animals, several seed bearing herbs also provide us with natural fibers that can be used to make unexpected things such as; rugs, tapestries, weavings, blankets, sheets, and clothing, etc. God thoughtfully created these natural fabrics to pair perfectly with our skin.

Here are some interesting facts about the skin and how our clothing impacts it, from the book, Herbal Home Healthcare:

Clothing: “Synthetic cloth strangles and chokes the body and is a barrier to oxygen-the breath of life. We should only use natural fibers for the clothes we wear an also for our bed covers. Never use synthetic for straining herbal drinks or for fomentations and bandaging. Use only natural fibers such as cotton, wool, linen or silk.”

“The skin is a very important part of the body, it is an extra kidney, an extra set of lungs for breathing and has many other functions. We should keep it in a good condition, important as it is, but we usually treat it shamefully. The skin should be bathed daily. This does not mean to use soap with each bathing, unless it is a natural type, biodegradable liquid soap. Nearly all bar soaps do more damage to the skin then they aid it, by leaving residue of the soap to clog the pores. The pores are the doors and windows to the temple and must be kept open to let in oxygen (the breath of life) and to excrete toxins and waste. A person who uses lots of mucus foods has a gluey, sticky type of perspiration. When this individual sweats, and the body is not cleaned regularly, the dried sweat clogs the pores. This is the beginning cause of dermatitis, or skin malfunction. In addition, as a nation, we have fallen in love with easy to wash and iron synthetic clothes. These rob the body of the breath of life because man-made synthetic fibers do not breathe. Only natural fibers such as cotton, wool, linen, silk, etc. can allow the skin to breathe properly.”

Natural fibers are mentioned throughout the Bible, Linen for example is a sacred Biblical plant fiber. I have always loved the look and feel of Linen, especially in the summer. Linen originates from the Flax Plant. Aside from producing fiber, flax seeds can be replanted, eaten whole, pressed into an oil, or ground into a meal. I like to add flaxseed meal to homemade bread, granola and oatmeal.

For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

Hosea 2:8-9 KJV

Aside from fabric and food, flax has many other practical uses. For example, our niece uses flax meal to make hair gel. Here are some interesting facts about Flax from, The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine:

“ Flaxseed or linseed has been cultivated in the Middle East for at least 7,000 years, and its seed and fiber have been put to innumerable uses, both medicinal and industrial throughout history. Flaxseed has been shown to have very high levels of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids, making it valuable in maintaining a healthy heart and circulation, and in preventing chronic inflammatory diseases.”

Oil

For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey”. Deuteronomy 8:7-8 KJV

There are many wonderful oils that originate from seed bearing herbs and trees. Out of all of the oils we use, oil, it is truly my favorite oil. In our home, we use Olive Oil every single day in a number of different ways. For instance, in place of butter, we use Olive oil {and coconut or grape seed oils} for cooking. In place of commercial hair and skin care products, we primarily use Olive, Coconut, Grape seed, Almond and Castor oils instead. I also use Olive oil to condition wood utensils, dishes, and our cast iron skillet and pot. {Side note: Not all Olive Oil on the market today is the real deal. Be sure to look for a good quality, unrefined, cold- pressed NON GMO, Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a dark glass bottle or in a stainless steel storage canister.}

Anointing Oil

Another way that we use Olive Oil is for Anointing Oil. Olive Oil is a sacred oil that is highly favored by our Creator. As we saw earlier, when God gave Moses instructions to make the holy anointing oil, He chose Olive oil as the carrier oil to infuse the finest spices of cinnamon, myrrh, calamus and cassia.

“Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. Exodus 30:22-25 KJV

In the New Testament, we see Anointing Oil being used as spiritual medicine to heal the sick. One example is Mark Chapter 6. The disciples casted out devils and anointed the sick with oil and they were healed.

“And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats. And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.” Mark 6:7-13 KJV

Another example where we see anointing oil being used medicinally is in James Chapter six. Here, James instructs the sick to call on the elders of the church for healing. Elders back then would have been prepared to pray over the sick and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” James 5:13-15 KJV

Medicine

Aside from its role as sacred Anointing oil, Olive oil by itself is very nutritious and highly medicinal. In addition to the oil, Olive leaves are also medicinal. Here are some medicinal actions and uses of Olive leaves and oil from, The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine:

Olive leaves lower blood pressure and help to improve the function of the circulatory system. They are also mildly diuretic and may be used to treat conditions such a cystitis. Possessing some ability to lower blood-sugar levels, the leaves have been taken for diabetes. The oil is nourishing and improves the balance of fats within the blood. It is traditionally taken with lemon juice in teaspoonful doses to treat gallstones. The oil has a generally protective action on the digestive tract and is useful for dry skin. * Clinical trials have shown that Olive leaves lower blood pressure.”

In the book Herbal Home Healthcare, Dr. Christopher writes of a natural healing program for patients who have been diagnosed with incurable diseases. One part of this healing program involves a Three Oil Massage, consisting of Wheat Germ, Castor and Olive oils:

“By using the skin as a filtering agent, the castor oil cleans and flushes the skin. It also goes into the blood stream, aiding in the removal of mucous and toxins from the inner body. The Olive Oil is a complete food itself and will penetrate into the body to feed and rebuild muscles, flesh and the entire system. Wheat germ oil is a healing oil, high in vitamin E, valuable in rejuvenating the body.”

Some years back, I bought a bunch of books during a sale at my local library. In one of the books, there was a newspaper article that had been cut out and placed in between two pages. Ironically, the article from the column “Herbal Pharmacy”covers a testimony of how Olive Oil impacts women's health:

Question: “I stopped using estrogen last summer, but now am suffering with vaginal dryness. This is causing me a lot of discomfort and is making relations with my husband difficult. I remember reading in your column that one woman says she is using Olive Oil for this problem. Does she ingest it, or does she use it directly in her vagina?

Answer: “She applied the Olive Oil directly. When she had a pelvic exam some months later, her doctor thought she was taking hormones because of the difference the Olive Oil had made.”

Out of more than 200 Phytochemicals and Micronutrients found in Olive oil, here are just a few from the book Low Fat Lies, which refers to Olive Oil as “Natures Healthiest Oil”:

  • Caffeic Acid: Caffeine acid has been shown to be a very effective antioxidant. There is evidence that caffein acid has also been shown to stop the production of potential cancer-causing compounds that form when meant is cooked. Other research has shown that caffein acid not only blocks carcinogens from attacking cells but also inhibits tumor growth once a cancerous process has started. But that’s not all. Caffeic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of some bacteria and fungi and also inhibit xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that makes uric acid. Uric acid is related to the development of gout. This means caffein acid may play a role in the prevention of cancer and heart disease as well as infections and gout, though these benefits have not yet been verified in humans.

  • Ferulic Acid: Ferulic Acid may be even better at preventing LDL oxidation than Vitamin C is. It can protect a certain LDL protein from oxidation, thereby decreasing the risk of heart disease. Ferulic Acid is also useful in several biochemical reactions that prevent the formation or activity of carcinogens.

  • Hydroxytyrosol: Hydroxytyrosol has been shown to be a powerful antioxidant that rivals and may even surpass Vitamin E in efficacy. suggesting a possible role in preventing cancer and heart disease. It seems to not only prevent the formation of free radicals, but also trap and destroy free radicals if they do form. IT also prevents platelets from aggravating and forming clots. This latter property may play a role in preventing heart disease.

  • Vanillic Acid: Vanillin Acid is in a class of compounds called polyphenols, which are found in both olive oil and wine. Vanillic Acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of some bacteria and fungi, which suggests that it may play a role in fighting infection.

  • Vitamin E: A fat-soluble vitamin and antioxidant, vitamin e can protect LDL cholesterol from oxidizing, and in some studies it has been associated with lowering rates of heart disease. The type of vitamin e that is in Olive Oil, alpha-tocopherol, is one that is most easily used by the body, Vitamin E seems to work particularly well with vitamin C, a water-soluble vitamin.

In addition to beneficial micronutrients and phytochemicals, the monounsaturated fats in Olive Oil are credited with the prevention of diseases such as Osteoporosis, Cataracts, Arthritis, and Gallbladder Disease.

Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.

Luke 12:35-37 NKJV

As another natural resource, Olive oil can also be used as fuel for oil lamps. In Bible days, without electricity, fire from oil lamps would have been a source of lighting at night. One example where we see this is in Leviticus Chapter 24, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.” Leviticus 24:1 KJV

Another Biblical example where Olive oil is used as fuel is in the prophetic Parable of the Ten Virgins. The wise virgins, who had oil in their lamps represent the faithful remnant who are watching, waiting and ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:1-13 KJV

Inspired by this parable, some years back, a brother and sister in Christ found a replica of an ancient Biblical Clay oil lamp online, just like the one pictured above. I was so inspired that I also got one for our home. Using the clay lamp for lighting, puts God’s natural resources of fire, oil, and earth to good use and also serves as a reminder to be watchful of the signs of the times and also stay prepared both spiritual and physically.

“Be dressed and ready for active service, and keep your lamps continuously burning. Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that when he comes and knocks they may immediately open the door for him.” Luke 12:35-36 AMP

Wine

“He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

Psalm 104:15 KJV

Similar to Olive Oil, wine is a running theme throughout the Bible. Wine {fermented grape juice} is a blessing from our Creator. Psalm 104 verse 15 lets us know God created wine to “make the heart glad”. Although wine today gets a bad reputation, we must remember that God created wine and He has intended purposes for how we are to use it.

In Bible days (and in various cultures today), wine was a common drink used in celebrations and special occasions. A perfect example of this one of the first recorded miracles of Jesus. In John Chapter Two, we see Jesus turned water into wine during a wedding feast, at the request of his mother.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” John 2:1-11 KJV

Medicine

Just as with all of God’s seed bearing herbs, wine has both have Spiritual and Physical significance. Physically, wine, grapes, grape seeds and leaves are all highly nutritional and medicinal.

Here are some Medicinal Actions of the grape herb from The Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine:

  • Parts Used: Leaves, fruit, seeds, sap.

  • Medicinal Actions: Grape leaves, especially the red leaves, are astringent and anti-inflammatory. They are taken as an infusion to treat diarrhea, heavy menstrual bleeding, and uterine hemorrhage, as a wash for mouth ulcers, and as a douche for vaginal discharge. Red leaves and grapes are helpful in the treatment of varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and capillary fragility. The sap of the branches is used as an eye wash. Grapes are nourishing and mildly laxative and they support the body through illness, especially of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Because the nutrient content in grapes is close to that of blood plasma, grape fasts are recommended for detoxification.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

In the Bible, we see instances where wine was used medicinally to heal a wound, as a digestive aid, sedative, and pain reliever. Wine was also used to boost mood, ease suffering and to assist with the transition of passing on.

For example, in the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we see Olive oil and Wine used together as topical medicine to treat an open wound.

“And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Luke 10:31-34 KJV

I like the way the Amplified version describes the medical action of Oil and Wine on the wound as soothing and disinfecting.

“And went to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them [to sooth and disinfect the injuries]; and he put him on his own pack-animal, and brought him to an inn and took care of him.” Luke 10:34 AMP

Among other things, I am very fascinated that the Samaritan man readily had Olive oil and Wine on hand. These two herbs were once highly regarded as valuable natural resources from our Creator. Today it is not common to pour Wine or Olive oil on an open wound. Clearly, these natural resources worked in the past, so why wouldn’t they still work today?

In addition, I am very humbled by his generosity. This man gave the very best of his personal resources, finances and his time to a complete stranger in need. A person like this is very rare today. I have hardly known any professing christians, friends or even family members like the Good Samaritan. Seems as if most people today are hard hearted, self centered, greedy and stingy. However, we must remember that generosity and compassion for our fellow man is the heart of God and His desire is for his people to emulate these actions.

“Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings (grain left after reaping) of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather its fallen grapes; you shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 19:9-10 KJV

In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus truly raises the bar for what it actually means to “love your neighbor”. As my husband says, loving your neighbor is not restricted to just the people living next door, but to every human being known or unknown. “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Galatians 5:14 KJV

Timothy

Another Biblical example where wine is used as medicine is in 1 Timothy Chapter five, where Paul instructs Timothy to drink wine for his stomach and frequent ailments. “Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.” 1 Timothy 5:23 KJV

Why would Paul suggest wine as a remedy for Timothy’s stomach ache and other infirmities? Well just like Jesus used the example of wine for healing in the Parable of the Good Samaritan, it’s very likely that Paul also understood the healing capabilities of wine.

In addition to wines effect on gut bacteria, the book Low Fat Lies adds another possible reason for why Paul would have prescribed wine as medicine to Timothy:

“First, a substance in red wine, particularly American varieties, is salicylic acid-the active ingredient in aspirin. The reason aspirin helps prevent heart disease is that the salicylic acid in aspirin inhibits platelets from sticking together and forming blood clots in coronary arteries. By drinking red wine daily, we are getting a small dose of aspirin everyday. No wonder St. Paul advised Timothy: No longer drink only water, but take a little wine for… your frequent ailments (Timothy 5:23). In other words, take some aspirin and call me in the morning.

Here are some other interesting facts they include about the health benefits of Red Wine: {This is only a brief summary and not the full list}

  • Anthocyanin: A flavonoid that provides the red pigment in grapes. As an antioxidant, anthocyanin not only stops LDL from dangerously being oxidized, it has also been shown to inhibit an enzyme that causes cholesterol production. In addition, anthocyanin has been shown to prevent blood clots.

  • Caffeic acid: An anitoxidant with antibacterial and anti carcinogenic effects. Also found in Olive Oil.

  • Catechin: This flavonoid has been shown to reduce bad cholesterol oxidation and decrease blood clotting in arteries.

  • Cinnamic Acid: A polyphenol that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

  • Ellagic acid: Neutralizes potential carcinogens. rendering them incapable of attacking DNA, and prevents oxidized LDL from damaging cells.

  • Quercetin: Quercetin is an antioxidant. It also discourages inflammation. In a test tube it inhibits the growth of cancer cells.

  • Resveratrol: Another flavonoid, Resveratrol have been shown to stop LDL oxidation.

  • Vanillic Acid: Antibacterial, Antifungal.

Here are some historical facts that confirm how grapes and wine were used medicinally in Ancient times from the book The People’s Pharmacy Home and Herbal Remedies:

Seeds of the fruit of the vine, once discarded as waste after the juice was pressed out for wine, have become the source of a a popular dietary supplement. Grapes were first cultivated near the Caspian Sea, and their use as food and drink spread throughout the Mediterranean world before the Bible was written. The ancient Greeks believed that wine had wonderful health benefits, and modern science has confirmed that wine has many useful properties. While the benefits of wine may be tarnished by the devastation associated with alcohol abuse, the positive aspects of grape seeds have no such liability.”

The Blood of Christ

“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

The Last Supper & The New Covenant

The Last Supper or “Communion” was the final meal that Jesus shared with His disciples on earth right before He was arrested and crucified. This final meal symbolizes the beginning of the New Covenant, which was prophesied in Jeremiah Chapter 31.

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:31-34 KJV

Earlier on in this post, I wrote about the Biblical Food Laws in Leviticus Chapter eleven. These food laws were a part of the Law of Moses, also known as the Mosaic Law. God divinely spoke these laws to Moses to enforce food, hygiene, moral, ceremonial and civil laws for His people to follow. These laws were God’s Covenant with His people. The Ceremonial laws required routine animal sacrifices or burnt offerings to cleanse God’s people of their sins.

Through Jesus, God promised a New Covenant where He would instead write His law on the hearts of His people. In place of animal sacrifice, Jesus came as the final sacrificial lamb for the atonement for the sins of humanity. We can see this better explained in Hebrews Chapter Ten.

“For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.” Hebrews 10:118 KJV

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 5:17-19 KJV

Jesus the Passover Lamb

Every time I take communion, I think of how difficult it would have been for Jesus to share a last meal with friends knowing he would be killed soon after. In spite of His internal struggle as well as a betrayer at the table, He held it together and fulfilled his great mission of instituting the New Covenant and sacrificing his life for the sins of humanity.

“When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles. And He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before My suffering. For I tell you that I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you. Look! The hand of My betrayer is with Mine on the table. Indeed, the Son of Man will go as it has been determined, but woe to that man who betrays Him.”Then they began to question among themselves which of them was going to do this.” Luke 22:14-23 KJV

In Matthew Chapter Twenty Six, the account of the Last Supper is also recorded but this version specifies that the wine which represents the blood of Christ, was shed for the remission of sins.

“And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. Matthew 26:27-29 KJV

Upon instituting the New Covenant, Jesus told his disciples to honor his memory by drinking wine, a symbol of His blood and eating bread, a symbol of His body, in remembrance of Him. In First Corinthians Chapter 11, Paul reestablishes that Followers of Christ should remember Him by taking Communion until He returns.

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 KJV

Misuse

I don’t know about you, but regretfully, I am very guilty of misusing wine in my past. In studying Gods word, I now see that we can either abuse wine or we can use it the way God intended for communion, healing and in times of celebration. There are several examples of wine misuse throughout the Bible. One example is in 1 Corinthians Chapter 11, where the people were getting drunk when gathering to take the Lord’s Supper.

“Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. 1 Corinthians Chapter 11:17-22 KJV

Paul goes on to say that those who take the Lord’s Supper unworthily are guilty of Christ’s blood and body. He goes on to add that those in the church who take communion unworthily are at risk of bodily sickness. The Lord’s supper is a sacred and holy act that should we should partake in with the right intentions and the utmost respect.

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come. 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 KJV

Before we take The Lords Supper as a family, we first pray, ask the Lord to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we have guests at the home, Shaun always explains the consequences of taking Communion unworthily beforehand.

Throughout my life, I have been in and out of many church buildings and I have never once heard this warning given. Seems the sacredness ofThe Lord’s Supper has been reduced to monthly rituals that are more about entertaining the audience than remembering the sacrifice of Christ. In place of good quality bread, wine or grape juice, the body and blood of Christ has been watered down to wafers and grape juice wrapped in plastic containers. These complicated hard to open concoctions, are carelessly given out to everyone in attendance without ever given Pauls warning. Could this perhaps be one of the many reasons why so many professing Christians are stuck in a perpetual cycle of sickness?

“Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 AMP

Final Thoughts

We live in a world where people follow people. There are so many voices with varying opinions on which diet is the best. It seems as though we put so much trust in these voices for our health and personal diet choices. But why not trust our Creator? After all, He created us in His image and He created diet.

My husband and I used to say there is no roadmap for parenting, until we started began studying the Bible. We quickly realized, the Bible is not only the roadmap for parenting but is also the roadmap for all of life’s issues including Diet.

Truly, the Original Diet created by our Heavenly Father is far superior than any manmade diet trend out there! Our Creator literally thought of every single thing we could possibly ever need when created the Original Diet. It truly amazes me how thoughtful and loving our Heavenly Father really is towards us!

Thank you for taking this walk with me, I know it was a long one! I hope you will join me in Part Three, as I expand on the many Health Benefits of the Original Diet.

The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. Psalm 111:2-5 NKJV
