The Original Diet

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” Genesis 1:29 KJV

What is The Original Diet?

As we can see from Genesis 1:29, The Original Diet provided to humanity and animals was a shared diet of Seed Bearing Herbs & Tree foods consisting of a large variety of vegetables, grains, fruits, nuts and seeds. Today, this is known as a “Plant Based Diet”. Not the modernized version but rather whole plant foods, unprocessed and in their original state.

God gave the animals a diet of every green herb but for humans, He put dietary restrictions in place, specifically giving us a diet of only those herbs and trees that bear seed. However, after the world wide Flood in Genesis Chapter nine, God altered The Original Diet, allowing humans to eat animal flesh.

On the third day of Creation, God created many different kinds of Seed Bearing Herbs & Trees. Each kind has its own distinct look and taste as well as its own nutritional and medicinal properties. There are thousands of different kinds of seed bearing plants and trees.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:12 KJV

“Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Psalm 136:25-26 KJV

The Original Diet is way more than just a diet, it is God’s Creation of living foods, medicines and natural resources that originate from the earth. Our Creator’s intention at Creation was a perfect dietary plan, that connects all living things from the earth, back to one another and eventually back to the earth.

Everything in God’s creation has purpose and was thoughtfully designed to work together. God made the Herbs and Trees to grow out of the earth, to provide food and medicine for humans and living creatures who also originate from the earth. When herbs, trees, humans, and creatures die, all go back into the earth from which we came. “All go to one place; all come from dust, and all return to dust.” Ecclesiastes 3:20 KJV

Seed Bearing Herbs & Trees

“He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.”

Psalm 104:14-14 KJV

Throughout the entire Bible, from beginning to end, Seed Bearing Herbs and Trees are a common theme holding both spiritual and physical significance. Aside from providing food and medicine, seed bearing Herbs and Trees serve humanity in a number of resourceful ways such as; filtering the air, generating oxygen to help us breathe and producing various kinds of medicines, oils, milks, juices, fibers, dyes, esthetics, scents, and wood, etc. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of the amazing uses of seed bearing plants. I’m sure I am just scratching the surface here!

In our modernized world of manmade fabrics, dyes, scents, foods and medicines, we have lost much of our dependency and understanding of all of the amazing natural resources that seed bearing Herbs and Trees provide. However, man’s synthetic versions pale in comparison to the superior quality of our Creator’s provisions of Seed Bearing Herbs & Trees.

Herbs and Trees glorify our Creator’s handiwork and hi-light His creativity and thoughtfulness towards all life. He designed seed bearing Herbs and Trees to provide us with everything we could possibly ever need. I elaborate further on the The Original Diet as well as Seed Bearing Herbs in Part Two of the Biblical Health & Healing Series.
